The American League adopted the position in 1973, but the National League has resisted the change. Should the AL drop the position or should the NL add the position?

    The idea for a designated hitter in baseball was first floated by Philadelphia Athletics manager Connie Mack in 1906. It only seems as if the argument has raged that long.

    The designated hitter is the worst mistake since allowing the Yankees to have a team. It takes away from the game because there aren’t complete athletes playing all the time.

    I agree that Major League Baseball would need to settle the rule, but Dominik’s assertion that DHs are often the highest paid players on a team is flat-out false.
